What is C-Scene?

C-Scene is a free online magazine devoted to C and C++ programming. We invite you to read and contribute.

How is the site organized?

Articles are organized into topics, please click on one of the links in the side-bar menu to view an article index for the topic you are interested in. Each topic is managed by an editor and you'll find contact info on that index page.

Before C-Scene adopted topics, articles were organized into separate issues. You can jump to the issues published so far using the following links:
[ 1 ] [ 2 ] [ 3 ] [ 4 ] [ 5 ] [ 6 ] [ 7 ] [ 8 ] [ 9 ]

A detailed article index is also available.

Can I publish my own articles?

We always welcome contributions to C-Scene. See the Submission Guidelines for C-Scene for details.

How is the C-Scene site created?

C-Scene uses Stylebook, a tool developed by the Apache Software Foundation (http://www.apache.org/).

Stylebook is a way to convert a set of XML files into a proper web site with consistent navigation and layout. The XML data is converted to HTML files in a batch process that also generates index pages and other data. The resulting set of HTML pages is independant of the XML source and can be mirrored easily.

Why does IE5 show an error page on viewing the XML sources?

Internet Explorer tries to be way too clever about displaying certain document types and ignores both the extension .txt and the MIME type text/plain.

The cure is to, within the error page, open the context menu and click on "View source". Alas, the XML source!
